Falcao Assists in Al Ittihad Victory Against Benfica
Felipe Anderson's goal was not enough for Manchester City to secure all three points against Chelsea on Saturday, as the Blues went on to win 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
However, there were some positive signs for City fans as they watched their team play out a thrilling game of football. One player who shone through was Raheem Sterling, who put in a solid performance and created several chances for his teammates.
In fact, it was Sterling who set up the opening goal of the match, as he found space on the edge of the box and delivered a pinpoint cross that fell perfectly for Gabriel Jesus to head home.
But it was not just Sterling who impressed in the first half; Fernandinho also had a good game, contributing to City's defensive solidity and providing some useful passes in midfield.
As the second half progressed, however,Serie A Stadium Chelsea began to take control of the match and eventually took the lead through Callum Hudson-Odoi's stunning strike from outside the box.
City struggled to find any answers to Chelsea's attack in the latter stages of the match, and despite some late efforts from Sterling and Phil Foden, the Blues held on to claim all three points.
Despite the defeat, there were still plenty of positives to take away from the match for City fans. Sterling's contribution was one of the highlights, and Fernandinho continued to show why he is such an important part of Pep Guardiola's side.
Overall, while the result may not have been what City fans wanted, there were certainly some encouraging performances from their players. As they look ahead to their next fixture, City will need to focus on finding ways to improve defensively if they want to continue challenging for top spot in the Premier League.
