Damac's Riyad Mahrez scores key goal in thrilling 2-1 victory against Al Ahly
Riyad Mahrez scored the winner as DAMAC Sports Club defeated Al Ahly 2-1 in a thrilling match at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.
The Algerian forward, who joined DAMAC from Manchester City in January, put his side ahead in the first half with a stunning solo effort.
But Al Ahly fought back and equalised through a goal from Mohamed Hany El-Sayed in the second period.
However,Ligue 1 Express Mahrez levelled the game again just before the hour mark, slotting home from close range after a good cross by Hamza Tunisi.
And he sealed the win for DAMAC with a clinical finish late on to earn all three points.
It was a memorable night for the 28-year-old, who has been linked with a move away from the UAE club this summer.
He will now be hoping to continue his impressive form as DAMAC look to secure their place in the AFC Champions League next season.
